Cream teas, ice-cream and chilled Pimm’s – three great British summer staples have been given a steam makeover for August by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) where they are being served in the art deco surroundings of the Gresley Buffet carriage.
“Summer is all about making the most of your days out and packing in as many experiences as you can, just like the heydays of steam travel when enjoying the journey was as important as getting to the destination. With our summer specials you can soak up the authentic steam train atmosphere while watching the beautiful North York Moors go past, with the added bonus of a chilled glass of prosecco or a cream tea – it’s a classic British summer cocktail for your memory,” comments marketing manager, Danielle Ramsey.
Continental breakfasts and Danish pastries, as well as homemade scones and ice cream, served with Prosecco, Pimm’s or a refreshing hot drink by the Gresley Buffet Stewards are available on the NYMR’s 11am and 2pm* train services from Pickering, or 12.30pm* and 3.40pm train services from Grosmont now until 5 September (*except on Mondays when it runs only at 2pm and 3.40pm services, Thursdays when it runs only on the 11am and 3.40pm train services and Friday when it runs only at 11am and 12.30pm). There is no need to book in advance. A full bar service is available on all four train services.
For those wanting a full silver service dining experience, a first class lunch, evening meal or afternoon tea can be enjoyed with friends and family in the luxurious setting of the Pullman Dining Train during the 36 mile round trip from Pickering across the North York Moors. Tickets include food and travel and are available on 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29 and 31 August.
