The University of Cumbria offers free advice on new apprenticeships

The government reform of apprenticeships is well underway; in just two months’ time some businesses will start paying the apprenticeship levy with the first University of Cumbria courses due to start in May.

But how many businesses in the region know what is entailed and how they can benefit from the scheme now or in the future?

This month the University of Cumbria is running a series of events for employers at campuses in Cumbria and north Lancashire to explain more and set out how the university can help train the workforce of tomorrow.

“It’s an exciting time but we know businesspeople are busy so we wanted to offer advice on the new apprenticeships in a format that suits commerce and in straightforward language,’ Ewan Pullan, University of Cumbria employer engagement manager said. ”We’ve produced an employers’ guide setting out how the levy and funding works and have arranged special events where we hope we can help answer queries.”

To discover how businesses – big and small – can benefit from the apprenticeship levy and the new apprenticeship funding system, as well as hearing the latest developments from the university, come and meet our panel of experts who will be able to advise you.

The events (which are free and can be booked via Eventbrite) are on Feb 14th Carlisle at the Business Interaction Centre, Feb 15th Ambleside campus and Feb 17th at the Lancaster campus of the University of Cumbria.
